COVID 19 Rains

 COVID 19 Rains

Why do you threaten us so? Why must we hide from each other? Why does ours and other's physical health take priority?

Friends when and how and can we meet again? Friends how best can I care for you? Friends will we forget one another?

Work when will requirements stop fluctuating? Work why do you have to be so dreadfully daunting? Work I understand that I am obligated to go to you, but sometimes, I really don't want to, who does?

Family how do we show our love? Family grief is so much more complex, isn't it? Family who am I allowed to hug?

Flooding questions, information to remember and process, and concerns keep coming in. Flooding feelings for others and our own on top of those. Flooding COVID 19 on all of us.

Downpour on all... don't forget your umbrella and take a spare for a friend or two. As we walk through all this together…

'My times are in your hands, Lord.' Psalm 31:15

Rain

I've been learning to fully appreciate moments.
In all the chaos, I pause, experiencing the calm in the midst of the storm.

Noticing the breeze and how it moves through everything.
The trees sway and their leaves rustle.
The clouds float across the sky and shapes form, change and dissipate.
The birds are guided by the pressure and direction of the wind.

Time ticks on , yet still I sit, absorbing and valuing each moment.

My eyes continue to scan the landscape.
The colours of the grass, fading from vivid green to dusty brown.
The varying colours of  tree trunks
-grey, red, blue, silver, merging with the brown.
The shade, making colours darker and richer.
The sun, making colours brighter and lighter.
Making dappled sunlight fascinating.

Looking up at the sun as it sets,

It draws the eye along with the blues, purples, pinks, oranges, and yellows.
It eventually gives way to deep purple, blue of the sky, and silver of the moon and stars.

To think that God created all things, just using words.
But I know my words cannot truly express what the eye can see and the heart can feel.
So I would urge everyone to pause and fully appreciate moments.
To find the calm in the midst of the storm.

The Symphony of Rain

I like to listen to the gentle rain.
As it descends, accompanied by its soothing sound,
its delicate droplets separate and crack upon the Autumn leaves.

If you really listen to it, you can soon isolate the individual sound of each one.
They all seem the same, and then you concentrate and you realise...
each one warrants an almost imperceptibly different sound.
If you listen carefully, you may begin to entertain the idea that
the rain is a musical symphony, and that each droplet, is an instrument in the orchestra.

And then you may start to inquire of yourself, the question;
"if the rain is a symphony, than who is the conductor of such an orchestra?"
And then;
"what other symphonies in nature does he also conduct so dexterously?"
Perhaps all we need to do, is be the audience, and listen...
